Your Guide to Closures, Frontals, Lace & Density
Shopping for a wig can feel overwhelming with so many options — but once you understand the basics, it all starts to make sense. Here’s everything you need to know before you buy
Closures vs. Frontals: What’s the Difference?
Both closures and frontals are measured in inches, and the size tells you exactly how much parting space you’re working with.
Our closures come in 5×5″ and 6×6″. Think of it this way — a 5×5″ closure gives you 5 inches of parting space going back and 5 inches across. It’s a smaller, more contained piece that sits at the top of the head and is perfect for straightforward, polished installs.
Our frontals come in 13×4″ and 13×6″. A 13×4″ frontal, for example, stretches all the way from ear to ear (13 inches across) with 4 inches of parting space going back. That extra coverage is what gives you serious styling flexibility.
Speaking of flexibility — frontals are the move if you love switching up your parts. Deep side parts, middle parts, half-up styles — a frontal can do it all. That said, if you’re newer to wearing wigs, we recommend starting with a closure. They’re easier to manage and maintain day to day. Just keep in mind that both closures and frontals can experience thinning over time with frequent manipulation, so gentle handling goes a long way.

Transparent vs. HD Lace: Which One Is Right for You?
We offer two lace options — Transparent (TR) and High-Definition (HD) the difference comes down to thickness, blendability, and how much care each requires.
Transparent lace is slightly thicker and more durable, making it a great all-around option that holds up well over time with proper care.
HD lace is thinner, more breathable, and designed to melt into a wider range of skin tones with ease — making it the go-to for a more seamless, undetectable finish. Because it’s more delicate, it does require extra care and gentle handling. We especially recommend HD lace if you’re working with 613 blonde hair or planning to color your hair a bright, vivid shade.
One thing we always want to be upfront about: lace is a fabric. No matter which type you choose, expecting it to be 100% undetectable to the naked eye isn’t realistic — and anyone telling you otherwise isn’t being honest with you. What matters most is proper installation and blending. When in doubt, ask your stylist which lace type they’re most comfortable working with — their recommendation should always factor into your decision.
Understanding Density: How Full Do You Want Your Wig?
Density refers to how thick and full your wig will be, and it’s determined by how many bundles are used to construct it:
- 180% density = 2 bundles — a natural, everyday fullness
- 200% density = 3 bundles — noticeably fuller with great volume
- 250% density = 4 bundles — thick, glamorous, and bold
Simply put: the higher the density, the more hair, the more drama. If you’re looking for something beyond 200% density, contact us to explore custom options.
Finding Your Perfect Cap Size
Getting the right cap size is one of the most important steps to a comfortable, natural-looking install — and it’s easier than you think. A cap sizing guide is provided directly on each wig product page for reference, but if you’re not sure how to read it or where to start, we’ve got you covered.
All you need is a soft measuring tape (the kind used for sewing works best) and a few minutes. Here’s how to take each measurement:
1. Circumference — Wrap the measuring tape all the way around your head, starting at your hairline in the front, around the back, and back to where you started. This is your most important measurement.
2. Front to Nape — Place the tape at the center of your front hairline and run it straight back over the top of your head down to the nape of your neck.
3. Ear to Ear Across the Forehead — Starting at one ear, run the tape across your forehead to the other ear, following your hairline.
4. Ear to Ear Over the Top of the Head — Same as above, but this time run the tape up and over the top of your head instead of across the forehead.
5. Temple to Temple Around the Back — Start at one temple, run the tape around the back of your head, and end at the other temple.
6. Nape of Neck — Measure the width of your hairline at the nape of your neck.
Once you have your measurements, match them to the size chart below to find your best fit:
| Small | Medium | Large | XL | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Circumference | 21.5″ | 22.5″ | 23.5″ | 24″ |
| Front to Nape | 13.5″ | 14.5″ | 15.5″ | 16.5″ |
| Ear to Ear (Forehead) | 11″ | 11.5″ | 12″ | 13″ |
| Ear to Ear (Over Top) | 12″ | 12.5″ | 13.5″ | 14.5″ |
| Temple to Temple (Back) | 14″ | 14.5″ | 15.5″ | 16.5″ |
| Nape of Neck | 4.5″ | 5.5″ | 6″ | 6″ |
If your measurements fall between two sizes, we recommend sizing up for a more comfortable fit. And for added peace of mind, all of our wigs come with a sliding wig band and combs sewn directly into the cap giving you a secure, customizable fit no matter your size. Still unsure?
